Exocentric Compound

An exocentric compound does not denote a sub-class of the items denoted by any of its members. A compound where neither constituent is the semantic head and the term rather refers to something associated with the two constituents, e.g. a cutthroat is not a type of throat or a type of cut but rather the term refers to someone who might perform such an action.
