Richard S. Kayne

Kayne’s research focuses on the syntax of English and the Romance languages. His most well-known book is ‘The Antisymmetry of Syntax’ (1994), which challenges the standard view that word order variation is a result of different branching directionality. This groundbreaking, yet controversial, work stimulates lots of discussion on the issue of linearization and word order derivation of non-SVO languages.
